9th October 2007: BIG GIG NEWS: Bob Cuba supporting bis @ Oran Mor
Bob Cuba @ Oran Mor, Glasgow, Sat 8th December 2007 supporting the legendary 'bis'

All Cuba fans -  you'll have to get your tickets quick for Oran Mor at Ticket Scotland for what promises to be the gig of the year. Following up from our storming success in London we will playing all the material from our popular debut 'Bob Cuba' with a few extra surprises thrown in!  Can't say too much more at the moment but watch this space!!

1st July 2007: Cuba in Laandaan - the verdict
Wow!

We returned back from London on Saturday absolutely exhausted (and slightly fluish on my part but nevermind!) but ecstatic with the way our 2-night album launch gigs went.

The Bull & Gate in Kentish town is a great venue - large stage, great sound, willing crowd, fantastic sound & lighting guys - extremely friendly, which is always great.  We had a tremendous evening there and played to a very lively and appreciative audience.  Sbob's stage dive (with guitar) seemed to take a few people by surprise but all in all it could not have gone better - many album sales confirmed our verdict!  Big thanks to Rob Hitchcock (of Opposition T & Traumattack fame) for organising the night.  Ruben Rebus were also great & let us use their gear too - great band and really decent guys.

How could we top the Bull & Gate gig we thought.... Well, The Hope & Anchor the following night did just that - in the "absolutely mental" stakes anyway!!  This gig was like nothing the Cubas have ever done.  Being the 4th time we had played the venue we knew it was going to be good but nothing prepared us for what happened.  It can only be described as magical and mental!  The crowd were already getting into the mood when the first 2 bands Revolution 78 and Lo Fuzz were playing - each getting a fantastic reception and deservedly so.

When we took to the stage, to our surprise and delight we noticed that the venue had got even busier and from the moment we kicked the gig off with "Million Eyes" until the encore at the end of .. well "Million Eyes" the crowd were just fantastic!  We had constant dancing/pogo-ing the entire time from what seemed like the entire audience, stage invasions, Sbob invading the audience (and playing guitar on the floor on his back), Cbob going cuckoo on the drums and singing solo, Jbob geeing up the audience with random bursts into the mic, people getting injured (war wounds were displayed to Cuba members after the gig) and just a level of appreciation that was out of this world!  The amount of cheering and noise between songs was unbelievable.  It was a good time for Bob Cuba to put in one of our best ever performances - feeding off a crowd like that makes it that bit easier!

Thank you to all who came along - it will never be forgotten!

29th May 2007: Fopp Cuba
You can buy the new Bob Cuba album In Glasgow's Fopp in Union Street, and in Byres Road by the end of this week!  It will be distributed throughout the UK in time for our London launch!

In the meantime, you can buy through the shop on this site (CD), www.bobcuba.com  or on download on www.indiestore.com/bobcuba

Cheers!

13th May 2007: Album airing on XFM
The album had it's first sneak preview on XFM on Thursday night (10th May) on big Jim Gellatly's show, with an "exclusive" play of Debunker!  I have to say (being a bit biased) that this song was MADE for radio - sounded magic!

12th May 2007: 'Cuba Album Launch
Brilliant gig last night!

Thanks to all who came along.  Last night had everything - good support acts in Marshall Chipped and Ainslie Henderson (and his big bouncy bollock band) - both excellent (from what I could hear whilst manning the door!).  We had a hundred odd Cubites cheering us on, a good sound, the Gilmour boyz on spacehoppers bouncing on stage, Davey B guesting on keys for "Never Let You Go", Manda Rin filming the set.  A stage invasion during the last song leading to chaos (and slight electrocution of at least one Cuba member).

The 'Cubas had a blast - thanks to all you Cubites - you are the BEST - fantastic night!

Sbob x

PS - If anybody got pics then please send them on.  Also, did I tell you we have a CD for sale?  Go to www.bobcuba.com !!!

We have grrreat gigs approaching in Glasgow - www.bobcuba.com/gigs.htm
We just had a fun gig in Edinburgh with Marshall Chipped - www.myspace.com/marshallchipped
We are still mixing the new album but things are coming along very nicely indeed.  Hear samples at www.myspace.com/bobcuba
Bob Cuba badges are now available from US!  Buy one at a gig or from the shop page.  Big plug for Amanda at www.weebadgers.com!
  21st Feb 2007:  Album Launch Gigs 2007!!!
The debut album will be launched in Glasgow on Friday 11th May 07 at Nice N'Sleazy in Glasgow...  Supporting us that night we have 2 very different acts: Ainslie Henderson and his bouncy bollock band will be taking to the stage (remember the Scottish lad who was known for his Bono-esque rocking out style on the Fame Academy stage?), so that should be really interesting... His solo stuff has a quite low-key acoustic melancholy and thoughtful vibe but the live band is 6-piece including violins!  Marshall Chipped are also playing, who feature the up and coming man of the acoustic scene in Glasgow at the moment Dave Burns.  Think of Michael Stipe style tunes with a Scottish accent :-)!

The "UK" launch gig is taking place at The Bull & Gate in Kentish Town, London (one stop from Camden).  More on that as we get closer to the gig, but we are hopefully going to have at least one other London gig either the night before or after too...

Oooh it's all exciting - The 'Cuba are back on the stage and have some tunes too - CUUUUUUUUUUUBA CUUUUUUUUUUBA!!!

5th May 2006:  Sad News
Unfortunately we have had to cancel all June and July 06 gigs for reasons we cannot divulge at the moment.  We apologise for any disappointment - we are more gutted than you.
8th March 2006:  Album Launch Gigs
The debut album will be launched in Glasgow on Friday 2nd June 06 at Nice N'Sleazy in Glasgow...  A pre-taster gig is also taking place in London's Garage (Upstairs) on Thursday 4th May!  Keep checking for more info on these gigs HERE
21st January 2006:  Guess Who's Back? Cuba's back!
After a wee break from gigging, we are back and raring to go with 2 re-scheduled Glasgow gigs from last year.  We play The Glasgow University Union (GUU) on 22nd Feb, and 13th Note on 24th March!  More gigs being arranged as we speak - keep checkin' GIGS!
6th December 2005:  Recent Cancellations...
Bob Cuba apologise for the recent gig postponements.  Cbob has not been of good health recently, so get well soon Cbob!  Sorry to the millions of disappointed fans but we will be re-scheduling for early '06 - keep yer eye on the GIGS page! In the meantime, MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE CUBA!
5th October 2005:  Midlife Crisis Motorbike First Airplay!
One of our new ones "Midlife Crisis Motorbike" was played on The Beatscene on Beat 106 last night by Jim Gellatly, who is also going to be the DJ at tomorrow night's gig at Mas in Glasgow!  Come along and bring a pal or two!
3rd August 2005:  Daily Record "Souncheck"... This Friday
Bob Cuba will feature in Scotland's most read newspaper this Friday (5th Aug) in the "Soundcheck" section.  Pick up a copy and let us know what you think of the pre-album taster CD review by leaving your waffle on the messageboard!
25th July 2005:  BOB CUBA PLAY THE ARCHES
After a strange and terror-filled pre-album non-launch where The Cubites missed the London bombings by a mere couple of hours, and stayed overnight in the heart of the affected area in Kings Cross, they are determined to bounce back with a gig at one of the greatest venues around - The Arches, Glasgow.  This will take place on Thursday 11th July.  The doors open at 8pm.  Also on the bill are Glasgow acts bands Driverdown and Satellite Dub, and Sheffield sensation Stoney.
11th July 2005: TERROR IN LONDON:  Cubites caught up in London Horror....
We are preparing a joint statement about the terrible events of July 7th, suffice to say all three Cubites and their friends, colleagues and families were unhurt. The gig was cancelled on the night, apologies for anyone who turned up, but our thoughts are with the unfortunate victims and the rescue effort. More soon... Jbob x
19th June 2005: Stop Press!  Album Release Delayed but Tasty Offer in the Meantime....
We have been waylaid a few times over the past couple of months for various reasons,  and songs have taken longer to get to the Cuba standard that we thought, so the release date of our forthcoming album will no longer be 7th July.  However, given that the launch gig at The Garage in London is still going ahead, we will be selling a "taster demo" CD at The Garage gig, containing 6 of the 12 songs from our forthcoming album for a mere £3 on the night (50p a song!).
The album, title still to be decided, is still being recorded and mixed, and we are now about 3/4 of the way though...  Being the perfectionists that we are, we cannot rush the release and compromise the quality, so we will continue to record and mix with the aim of an Autumn release proper!  It will be worth the wait, we promise!
30th April  2005: Arran X "On Air"!
One of our new songs (which will be on the forthcoming album "Arran X") received a welcome endorsement on Wednesday night (27th April) by being played by Jim Gellatly on The Beatscene on Beat 106!  If anybody heard it then let us know since us boring old Cubites were all in bed before the 12.20am slot!
30th April 2005: Rockin the Soundhaus!
We have just returned from a really cool gig at The Soundhaus with the fantastic Sound Development Agency.  Also playing were "Solo" (from Leeds) and "Suburban Funk Command".  All really good bands from Stone Roses-esque indie rock(Solo) to funky electro rock(SDA), to hip-hop(Suburban Funk Command) and a bit of all 3-piece style from BC!  Sbob had all but lost his voice before the gig even started, but still battled through!  Be back soon x

7th September 2004: Back to School!
Bob Cuba once attended a certain educational institution called "Strathclyde University", and used to regularly jump around to music and attend gigs in the famous Level 8!
Therefore, it was only polite really to go back there and treat them to the sounds of their strange lost sons on 22nd October!  See you there!
31st August 2004: Bob Cuba park in The Garage... with Insects??
A huge thanks to those great London fans for coming to our gig at The Garage last week!  We enjoyed a great night supporting the superbly melodic and punchy Daddy Long Legs!  The London crowd was raucous and appreciative - I think the Cuba might just move there soon... :-)!

9th August 2004: Bob Cuba are official Pin-ups!
The Q-Club gig was an 'experience' as much as any gig played in your living room whilst keeping half an eye on the TV!  It was small, hot and very stuffy, kind of like a strange cave with sofas, but the Cuba rocked their sweaty socks off anyway.  Thanks to those few who chose us over Big Brother - Nadia man/woman/it Shmadia!!
26th June 2004: IsThisMusic?!  Well, we think so..!
See reviews for a live review of our recent Cally Backpackers gig in Scottish mag 'Is This Music?' (not sure if we agree with being summed up as thrashing 3 chord new wave, but could be worse we 'spose!!), as well as a thumbs up for the new single Million Eyes/Shine a Light, which is all good!!
18th June 2004: Cuba on KOOBA!
Bob Cuba's new single "Shine a Light" was featured on Kooba Radio on 16th June.  The show, curiously called "mmm I'm Barely Tolerating It" can be listened to by clicking HERE
11th June 2004: Cuba tipped in The Fly!
Bob Cuba were described in this month's FLY magazine as ones to watch out for this year - we think so too :-)!!  Thanks for those who came to the QMU gig, twas a fun night.
26th May 2004: Venue gig Cancelled
The Cubites won't be playing the Venue in Edinburgh this evening after all due to Cbob being whisked away to Madagascar to feature on a documentary comparing light bulbs in Madagascar to those in Bracknell, England.  The gig this Saturday (Burlington Berties, Kilmarnock) is still very much on, however.  Email us for tickets, £5 going towards Ayrshire Cancer Support.

19th April 2004: Sleazies call off, but QMU tickets on sale now!!!
With Cbob having to undergo a research trip to Bracknell to study the  effects of light bulbs on a middle of the road industrial English town in 2004, our gig at Nice N'Sleazy on the 12th May has had to be cancelled.  We apologise for this, but will hopefully be postponing this to early July.  In the meantime, please get your tickets (for only £3) for our forthcoming gig at the QMU on Thursday 10th June in Glasgow by emailing info@bobcuba.com now!!!.
12th April 2004: Killie gig downsized!
Bob Cuba will play Kilmarnock's Burlington Berties on Saturday 29th May as part of the Ayrshire Music Live festival 2004.  This was originally supposed to be held at The Grand Hall on Sunday 30th May but has now been moved to a more "cosy" venue.  We hope to see all you Ayrshire Cubites there!!!
6th April 2004: A Cuban back from USA!
Sbob spent the month of March in South Carolina USA gaining inspiration for the plot of world domination of Bob Cuba in season 2004/2005.  This has resulted in a whole host of new songs that sound like Dolly Parton singing on a highly flammable cocktail of drugs.  The first one is called "Kastro on Castrol".  He has gone officially mad, but we look forward to the fruits of his labour.
9th March 2004: Kooba for Cuba!!!
A song off Bob Cuba's new demo (soon to be a single) called "Shine a Light" was given its first airplay on the internet radio station Kooba Radio on a show called "Blind Lemon Pie" on 3rd March.  Click here to go to the Kooba website and listen to an interview conducted at the London Buffalo Bar gig on Wed 25th February as well as the new song!  I have not heard this yet due to dodgy internet connection, so if you manage to download it then let me know!!!
9th March 2004: Kooba for Cuba!!!
A belated thanks goes to all who attended our London shows on Wed 25th Feb at The Buffalo Bar, and Thu 26th Feb at The Hope & Anchor.  At the Hope & Anchor, our loyal London contingent made a fantastic noise and outnumbered all the other (local) bands' fans, so well done!!  We are trying to get some more dates organised for early summer in Laandan so keep yer eye oot!
20th Feb 2004:  Stereo & Stirling...
The last 2 gigs in Stereo & Stirling have got Bob Cuba well warmed up to take on the world in 2004!  A big thanks goes to all the loyal who turned out for these 2 gigs, and also the people who have just enjoyed the Cuba experience for the first time - spread the word, and keep coming!!  We plan to put on another Glasgow date soon just for you :-)!!!
11th Feb 2004: Mixing it!
The new single is currently being mixed & produced.  We hope to have this in demo form before the end of Feb, with a single release date now around end March.  In the meantime, we still have some copies of Bounce left, so get in touch via email if you'd like a copy for a knock-down £4 including postage!!
20th Jan 2004:  New London Date!
Due to an unprecidented demand for tickets for the gig at The Hope & Anchor on Thursday 26th February, Bob Cuba have just added another London date.  This will take place in The Buffalo Bar on the same street (Upper Street, Islington) on Wednesday 25th Feb!  Flyers are available at http://www.upallnightmusic.com/eflyer.cfm!  Look forward to seeing the London contingent of Cubites at these gigs!
20th Jan 2003: Pumping in the Stereo!
Bob Cuba play Stereo, Kelvinhaugh Street, Glasgow, on Wednesday 4th February as part of the monthly local indie night "Your Sound".  Email us on stuart, colin or john@bobcuba.com for tickets at only £3 each.
2nd Jan 2004:  Happy New Cubayear!
Happy New Year to you all!!!  Following a wee break on the news front, we are back with plenty to tell you about!  Sbob headed off to Oz for the whole of November, and returned with fresh ideas, new songs and a slightly off-white sun tan.  December saw the beginning of the new single recording take place with legendary Glasgow producer Rico Hypercolour.  This will be completed in January, and will be available in demo form early February.  It will be a double-A-side containing the songs "Shine a Light" and "Million Eyes".  On the gig front, we've had to cancel the London show on 9th January due to an arm injury obtained by Sbob, but there will be at least 2 London shows taking place in February, so keep your eye on the gigs page!  On that subject, Bob Cuba will play Ireland for the first time on a 4-date mini-tour beginning on 28th January in Derry and ending in Dublin on 31st.  March and April will see Bob Cuba return home to play some Scottish shows.  Again, keep checking GIGS!
26th Oct 2003: OneMusic "Updates"!
Bob Cuba have been featured on Radio 1's OneMusic "Updates" section, where a handful of acts that have achieved success since appearing on OneMusic, are given a special mention.  Click here to see for yourself!
23rd Oct 2003:  Bob Cuba Elevated!
You can buy your tickets for the Elevation Station Live gig NOW by emailing tickets@bobcuba.com or info@bobcuba.com.  Bob Cuba will play along side some of the best up and coming Scottish acts on Friday 5th December (see previous article below) and it is only £5 i.e. less than £1 per band!  Unlike Ticket Scotland, we will not charge any booking fee or postage!!!
20th Oct 2003: Gig News!
Before Sbob heads off to distant lands for the month of November, Bob Cuba play a free gig Heriot Watt Union, Edinburgh, on 30th Oct at 9pm.  One of the minus points of Sbob's leave is that we had to turn down the MTV Breakout gig on 5th November at The Venue with Dogs Die In Hot Cars & Skin on Skin, but fear not, The Cuba will be playing the first Elevation Station show at The Universe Nightclub, Coatbridge on Friday 5th December with some other hot bands in Scottish music at the moment i.e. Policechief, The Silver Pill, Skin on Skin, Nine Miles High and Swearbox.  This gig is a bargain £5 from Ticket Scotland, or even better contact us on tickets@bobcuba.com!
13th Oct 2003:  LONDON CONQUERED!
We are just back from playing 2 great London debut gigs.  The Hope & Anchor was a great  venue that lived up to its legendary status, with an appreciative crowd (encore calls and all) and knowing some of the great names that have played and made their name there over the years, it was a pleasure to add Bob Cuba to that list!  The Arts Cafe was great too, and we extend our thanks to the bands at both venues who let us use their gear (Clipper, Submacrewman and The Vanities).  To top it off, Scotland beat Lithuania!  We will be back soon!
3rd Oct 2003: Bob Cuba in The List!
The Nice N'Sleazy gig on 6th September was given a favourable review in the early Oct edition of The List magazine.  Check out reviews to read this in full.  It's the first time the Cuba have  ever been called "geeky indie pop" but hey, could have been a lot worse :-)!
12th Sep 2003:  LONDON CALLING!
Bob Cuba are currently organising a weekend mini-tour in the "big smoke" (London in case you don't know) from 10-12th October!  At the moment, we are opening the gig at The Hope & Anchor in Islington on Sat 11th October (on-stage at 8.45pm), followed by a late gig the same evening at The Arts Cafe in Aldgate, E1 (on stage 11.15pm).  We are also trying to get one sorted out for the previous evening (Fri 10th) in another prestigious Laandan venue, so we will keep you posted on that!

5th Aug 2003:  BOB CUBA ON UCA RADIO!
Last night saw us play an acoustic session on Ayr's Christian Radio Station UCA, broadcast from Craigie Campus of Paisley Uni.  A big thanks goes to David and his sidekick Kevin for making us feel welcome, letting us waffle and play some 'Cuba songs acoustic-style (including impromptu versions of Karaoke Tribe and All We Have).  Apparently, some of the session will be broadcast soon on Dave's other show, called "Haiverin" on Stirling University radio station Air3 1350.  We will get some MP3s up on the site in the next few days!
31 July 2003: SHOULD BOB CUBA HAVE CUT THEIR FRINGE?!
Sbob here!  I write this after having just played Venue 34 (C - The Adam House) at The Edinburgh Fringe opening night last tonight / this morning, which was a night that ... well ... we won't forget for a while anyway!  A great atmosphere was brewing in the C bar, where an hour of stand-up comics took the stage in build up to the crescendo that would be Bob Cuba!  Well, it might have been that way, had a FIRE ALARM not gone off in the building just as we were gearing up to go on stage!  About half an hour later, after having to evacuate the venue, and as an ever-depleting and frustrated crowd gathered on the pavement outside, trickling off to find a bar that was still open (it was now 2am) we were eventually told that we could go back inside.

Well... we did then take the stage to play to an audience now about 1/4 of the original size, and yes we started playing our wee socks off, rocking out in Cuba style, and the place started to fill up a wee bit, things going ok, we're beginning to forget the hassle, expense, drama, misery, tiredness.... The appreciative diverse multi-cultural audience were the only thing that kept us sane.  That, and my safety specs, Jbob's noisy frog and Cbob's constant on-stage rants about the weather (in follow-up to the comedian before us - very funny guy called Paul something)!   Anyway, after off-loading all the gear (3.30am now) then driving back to Glasgow to again lug some more gear around, we arrived home shatterred, slightly more skint, dejected, deflated and.... ready to do it all again on 22nd Aug!!! Cheers to the Fringe!!  Wahey!!!  Night Night.
29th July 2003:  BOB CUBA TAKE THE METRO!
A great article on Bob Cuba, focussing on the Fringe gig, appeared in the national free newspaper "The Metro" today, following an interview by Paul Whitelaw with Sbob on 28th July.  Amongst other things, spacehoppers, feuding brothers and Bob Hoskins were discussed!  See press for details!
27 July 2003: BOB CUBA DOON DUNOON and ACTING THE GOAT!
Just back from Dunoon, where we played the massive 'Queens Hall' (the town hall) which had a healthy audience of around 300 enthusiastic nutters!  The set did not exactly run smoothly, with Sbob's guitar effects packing in on song 3, and resulted in him singing a "drum and bass" (literally!) version of "In The Shower" with the guitar solo section being replaced by an off-the-cuff ramble about guitars conking out during a 'Bono moment', jumping around the stage like an idiot!  Rock and Roll!  Thanks go to the headliners - great band and bunch of guys - Skin on Skin, as well as rocky openers Kyber Pass.

The previous night could not have been more different, although just as good in a cosy candle-lit kind of way.  This was Bob Cuba's debut acoustic slot at The Goat Club, a really cool wee venue located in the basement of the presently-closed-for-refurbishment L'Attache in Waterloo Street, Glasgow.  After a cautious start, things went really well, and the 'Cuba are now looking forward to the next one - watch this space!
20th July 2003:  KOOBA CUBA!
Bob Cuba's dance anthem Karaoke Tribe was played on Kooba Radio on Saturday 12th July on a show called "I'm gonna pop a cap in your ass"!  Wahey!

Bob Cuba will be performing a live acoustic session on UCA Radio in Ayr (87.7fm in Ayrshire, Scotland) on Monday 28th July 2003, which will also later be broadcast on Stirling radio (Air3 1350).  If you are not within these areas do not worry because we will hopefully get some mp3s of the session on the site soon.
15 July 2003:  BOB CUBA GO ACOUSTIC!
On Thursday 24th July 2003, Bob Cuba will play a 20 minute acoustic set in a wee basement of a bar in Waterloo Street, Glasgow called L'Attache.  The night is called 'The Goat Club' and begins around 8pm.  Go along and see if you think the boys can cut it when their tunes are organically exposed for what they are, in this candle lit intimate atmosphere.  To follow this up, they will also be playing a live acoustic session for Stirling University radio in Scotland within the next few weeks - date to be announced soon.
15 July 2003: SECRET BOB CUBA GIG IN DUNOON SHOCKER!!
Bob Cuba will be playing a gig in a secret location in Dunoon on 25th July 2003.  The reason for the gig location being kept secret is that Bob Cuba have become so popular in Dunoon (Cubamania is in full force there) that it is in the interests of the band, for their own safety, to keep the venue a secret.  At this moment, even the band do not know the location!  We may announce the exact venue in the next few days once guarantees of maximum security are made and communicated to us.  In particular, Sbob is very worried that his mop-top may be breached.
22 June 2003:  BOB CUBA CONFIRMED AT THE FRINGE!

13 June 2003: Bob Cuba are going to be playing at least 2 dates at Edinburgh's Fringe Festival this year!  This will take place in August, and as soon as we know the exact dates and times, we will post them here first!  Also, apologies for not putting much news up recently - been very busy lads and all that.  You might like to know that we have a pretty full gig schedule (with even more to be announced) around Scotland, and also a couple of dates south od the border.  See gigs for the confirmed dates so far.  Cheers!
25 May 2003: We have just been named Band of the Month on the prestigious MusicOf website!
15 May 2003: More reviews of "Bounce" are available to read in the reviews section i.e. brand new reviews from The Evening Times and Is This Music?.  They are all great reviews, which is always a good thing!  If you need any more persuasion to buy Bounce then go to our sounds section to listen to some mp3s before purchasing the EP!

I hope you caught our live session on Air on Radio Scotland on Monday night!  If not, you can listen to it again by clicking here!  We decided at the last minute to ditch our anthem "Never Let You Go" and instead go for a new song that is all of 2 weeks old called "Million Eyes".  We also swithered between "Prodigal" and "Running Outside", but in the end went for the latter (you can judge for yourself whether this was the right decision).  On listening back, we thought that our sound came across far quieter and more 'muddy' than the in-studio sound, although it got better as the songs went on.

Thanks to all who came along to see us at Bannermans last night!  We enjoyed the gig although completely missed a song out by mistake (Karaoke Tribe) and the sound guy left the booth whilst we were on stage :-?!  Cheers to Draw for having us through and to Young Girls Wanted, a good band and good bunch.

6 March 2003:  written by Cbob We have just recorded a live session at The Arches, with a view to putting at least 1 song on the forthcoming EP, to be released on 28th April.  At the moment, the favourite is our new rock stormer (that is very good for bouncing on my space hopper to) called "Running Outside".  I love that space hopper!  We'll get the mp3s up on the web site very soon (once the songs have been mixed)...!
28 February 2003: Bob Cuba's planned session for Del Franklin's show on Aberdeen's Northsound on 23rd March 2003 is now cancelled due to the show being axed.  However, Bob Cuba are the Beatbreakers on Jim Gellatly's Beatscene on Beat 106, all week on the late show, leading up to an interview, also on 23rd March 2003!
25 February 2003:  The headline band for our Barfly gig on 5th March is a New York outfit called The Blam.  They have been compared to The Strokes and are described on their website as "poppy garage rock".  Should be intereting...

18 February 2003: written by Sbob We were featured in '192' in The Daily Record yesterday(17th Feb), mentioning that we narrowly missed out on the Big Break final, but were up for the demo vote on Radio Scotland's Air show.  There was also a good wee advert for our forthcoming gigs!  Thanks goes to Rick Fulton for this!

01 February 2003: written by Sbob Well...the good news is that the judges selected us as the best guitar band from the Ayr heat of the Daily Record's 192 Big Break competition, but unfortunately have not been selected for the guitar final, since only 5 bands from the 10 heats were selected to go through. Ah well... there is more than one way to skin a cat, so we'll keep going, and claw our way to number 1 in our own way!!!
25 January 2003: written by Sbob Bob Cuba will feature on Jim Gellatly's show on Beat on Sunday 26th January.  I am not sure which song he is going to choose to play, so listen out and let us know in case we miss it!
25 January 2003: written by Sbob Apart from probably the worst picture ever taken of me, where I look about 25 stone, and a blatant insult about our shirts, the Daily Record write up about our performance in the Ayr 192 Big Break heat was favourable.  Well, I think "[Bob Cuba] gave a good nod to The Jam" is favourable.  If you can work out exactly what it means then let us know!!
25 January 2003: written by Sbob We received an excellent write up in The Ayrshire Post this week (24th January edition), mentioning radio play, gigs, and of course that Colin and I grew  up in 'The Auld Toon'!
23 January 2003, written by Sbob The Daily Record 192 heat in Ayr went well, where we opened the night with 3 songs to fill the allocated 15 mins, starting with Karaoke Tribe, followed by Prodigal and finishing with Never Let You Go.  The sound in the venue was great, and all 3 Cubites are hopeful of qualifying to the next phase of the competition.  I felt the need to put on a pair of safety glasses before the 3rd song, much to the bemusement of the crowd!!
